Active Transportation Saint John (ATSJ) is a grassroots community group promoting human powered modes of transportation like cycling, walking, jogging and running to get fit, commute and have fun. This group of volunteers is dedicated to improving the recreational and commuter cycling routes in the City of Saint John. The current focus of the group is to gain support for cycle friendly infrastructure, such as on street bike lanes and off road trails.

Our accomplishments to date:

-  Draft Suggested Urban Cycling Routes map

-  Worked with Municipal Operations to design specifications for Bicycle Lanes resulting in General Specifications for road width getting changed for bicycle lanes and wide shoulders where possible

- General Specifications also changed for smoother sidewalks

- Received City Council support of Active Transportation initiatives through presentations

- Provided input for preliminary design for proposed Marsh Line trail

- Commented  to city staff on alternative routing for pedestrians and cyclists for the temporary closure of Harbour Passage.
